How does a leader inspire a team?
First, by sharing a vision that’s noble and worthy. It’s the promised land — anything from putting a man on the moon, to eradicating polio, to adopting a new product line for the right reasons.
(Profits are never noble or worthy. Serving and caring about customers and teammates can be.)
Second by honestly assessing the current state of affairs. Are we out of cash? Is the nation at war? Is the competition taking away our customers? Admit it frankly. This reduces fear. The more honest you are here the better.
